Measuring Impact in Healthcare
“We launched our infopool platform to support those living with prostate cancer and needed to communicate its impact. Engaging Sowen was a game-changer. Their data and measurement expertise transformed how we evaluate programs and share our story with stakeholders. Knowing the infopool saves the NHS £2,600 per nurse annually and that 10x more visitors are better equipped to manage prostate cancer challenges has empowered us to drive our mission forward with confidence."

In 2023, Prostate Cancer Research (PCR) launched the infopool, a user-friendly, culturally representative, and accessible online platform to support people living with prostate cancer. The infopool offers easy-to-understand information about tests, treatment options, side effects, and clinical trials, all to empower patients, reduce treatment regrets, and improve quality of life. While PCR had some positive anecdotal feedback, they needed concrete evidence of the platform’s impact to secure future funding.
To capture the infopool’s true impact, PCR teamed up with Sowen. Together, we used a combination of workshops, surveys, stakeholder interviews, and platform analysis to gather personal stories and hard data.
The results highlighted the life-changing impact the infopool was making for patients and their caregivers and the significant cost and time savings it had on healthcare professionals.
The output was measurable and quantified the impact of the infopool on the audiences it serves - people living with prostate cancer and the healthcare providers who treat them. This boosted internal confidence in a newly launched service and formed the basis of a compelling impact report shared with potential funders.
Sowen also provided ten actionable recommendations to boost platform awareness and usage based on a data-driven understanding of what was and wasn’t working and guidance on optimizing how PCR measures and reports its impact at an organizational level.
Based on this work, Sowen was subsequently re-engaged by PCR on two more projects aimed at securing funding to expand the infopool beyond the U.K. into the U.S. market.
